General Rule Modifications

[Applicable to all divisions unless otherwise stated]

The rules of play for Seneca Sports soccer are either full FIFA regulations, or modified FIFA. Modifications are attached. Coaches are required to offer a minimum of 50% playing time to all players on their roster.

Parents and Coaches will adhere to the Code of Ethics. Referees will be empowered to warn coach or spectators using a yellow card for the first warning and dismiss either using a red card. Failure to follow referees direction will result in the forfeiture of the game and could face SSA action. If a player, coach or spectator receives a red card he/she will not be permitted at the field at the next scheduled game.

Spectators and Parents from each team will line up on opposite sides of the field. No coaches or spectators are allowed on the field or behind the goal line during the game unless given permission by the referee or if exception is stated in the rules below.

Slaughter Rule: Since this is a recreation division, we are imposing a slaughter rule to avoid blowout games, which serve no purpose. When a team reaches a 7-goal lead the opposing team will be able to insert another player. A 9-goal lead will result in the leading team pulling one of their players from the field.

Goal Kicks\Corner kicks\Foul Kicks:Players from opposing team will be lined up at a fair distance to enable a team to put the ball in play. For Kindergarten thru 2nd grade this is at the referee's discretion. For 3rd - 6th grade, there is a minimum requirement of at least 10 yards.

Referees are provided. If the referee does not arrive the game may be played with volunteer (s) to referee. "No shows" must be reported to the Soccer Commissioner by the team coaches.
